Modules Available
Ranger Basics (8 hours)
This module is the foundational module that all new commanders will be encouraged to attend. Ranger Basics will provide a new commander with all the necessary information he/she needs to effectively lead boys in the weekly meetings.
LMA Transitional Module (6 – 7 hours)
This module is for those commanders who earned their LMA under the previous LTC program. It consists of a shorter version of Ranger Basics, plus the changes to the new program.
LTA Camp-Out
This training module is an overnight campout that is required for those commanders working with the Discovery, Adventure and Expedition Rangers. This module will prepare commanders to take boys camping.
Ranger Kids Skills (6 hours)
This module is for Ranger Kids commanders and will focus on the skills needed to safely take Ranger Kids on outings and field trips.
RK, DR/AR, or ER Age-Specific Activities (4 hours per module)
These age-specific modules will provide group commanders ideas, skills, and safe practices to follow when working with boys outside the Outpost meeting.
Discipleship 1 and 2 (3 hours each)
This module is intended to provide commanders with in-depth training in soul winning, counseling, and discipleship issues related to ministering to boys.
Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship (2 hours)
This module will introduce commanders to FCF, its mission, goals, and requirements for membership and advancement. It is designed to encourage men to become members and for them to encourage membership among their boys.
How to Start an Outpost (2 hours)
This module is for those commanders who need to know how to start Royal Rangers in their church.
Outpost Chaplain (2 hours)
This module will equip Outpost Chaplains with the skills necessary to fulfill the spiritual needs of the outpost.
Outpost Council (2 hours)
This module will equip the Outpost Council member with the skills necessary to support the Royal Rangers program in their church.
Working with Boys with Disabilities (2 hours)
This module will help commanders effectively lead boys that are mentally and physically challenged.
Safety and the Church (3 hours)
This module will help commanders understand the most important safety issues when dealing with boys during outpost meetings, activities, and while transporting boys.
Successful Outposts (4 hours)
This module incorporates many ideas and best practices a commander can follow to create a successful outpost.
Child and Substance Abuse Prevention (3 hours)
This module introduces commanders to the life threatening aspects of substance and child abuse and how to spot boys currently living in an abusive environment.
District Leadership Training Course (DLTC) (5 hours)
This module is designed to prepare commanders for the challenging role as district or sectional Royal Rangers leaders.
The Patrol Method (2 hours)
This module helps commanders better understand the Patrol Method and how they can take advantage of this outstanding boy oriented leadership method.
Classroom Management (3 hours)
The best way to deal with classroom management problems is to prevent them in the first place. Therefore, most of the training you will receive during this module will focus upon the skills necessary to prevent problems in the classroom.
Presentation Skills (3 hours)
Whether you are just beginning your presentation career or are a seasoned veteran, this module will provide you with useful tips and tools you’ll be able to apply immediately.
The required elements to earn the Leaders Medal of Achievement through the LTA are:
Ranger Basics—8 hour module
Discipleship 1 and 2—3 hours each module; 6 hours total
LTA Campout (Discovery, Adventure, Expedition Commanders [overnight required] or Ranger Kids Commanders)—6 hour module, or NTC, or RKTC, or National Training Conference.
Safety and the Church—3 hour module
Successful Outpost—4 hour module
One Age-Specific Activities Module—4 hour module

2. Discovery/Adventure Rangers Activities
3. Expedition Rangers Activities
First Aid/CPR (from a certified provider, i.e., Red Cross)
One Elective Module—2 hour module (minimum)
Completing all the necessary modules to earn your LMA will provide you with the skills and knowledge that will improve your effectiveness as a Royal Rangers leader!
